FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS OF YOGA

What should you wear?

Something stretchy or loose fitting is ideal. A warm top and socks for relaxation after the practice.

Is there anything i need to bring along with me?

Just yourself - in suitable clothing - all equipment is provided - but most people prefer their own mat if they practice long term. For Pre & Post Natal classes you may wish to bring a soft blanket and some small toys for the baby . You will alos need a change mat and nappy sack, just in case.

PRE & POST NATAL FAQ'S

I'm pregnant, should I start doing yoga?

Yes if your doctor has said its ok and you are not too exhausted. We recommend that you do our pregnancy yoga classes, especially if you are new to yoga. These classes are gentle, and so are safe and appropriate for any stage of pregnancy - you needn’t wait till the 2nd trimester to start. Having said that, if you’re in the 1st trimester please be aware that this is the most delicate stage of the pregnancy, so take it particularly easy.

I'm pregnant & have done lots of yoga - can I still go to any class ?

If you have a regular, established practice & your teacher is happy to give you suitable modifications, you can carry on – but remember that pregnancy is not the time to expand your practice.  However, you should be aware that some classes are less susitable for pregnant women (astanga as it is a high heat practice & pilates as your abdominal muscles need to lengthen in pregnancy, rather than draw in).  Also some teachers do not accept pregnant women in their classes, so do check.

What do I do with my baby?

Babies lie on their own mats, next to mums.  You can choose to integrate your baby into your practice (the teacher will instruct how to do this) or just let them sleep or play with their toys.

What if my baby needs to be fed?

Don’t worry, you can breast or bottle feed during the class & the teacher will give you some core strength practices or breathing techiques which can be done while you feel baby.

What if my baby’s nappy needs to be changed?

You can change baby in the studio but please use your own change mat and not the studio yoga mats.

What do I do with my buggy/car seat?

Car seats can brought up to the studio but please be aware the studio is on the 3rd floor.  Buggies can be left downstairs or in the Organic Café across the road.  Priority for downstairs will be given to those booked on a course and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
